SumoKids is coming to Canada!
On April 1, The SumoKids Foundation announced the official Canadian launch of SumoKids in a press conference at United Family Martial Arts in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Local media, including "The Source" from Cogeco Cable, were treated to a sumo demonstration from local students and given a firsthand look at the facilities where Canadian staff and coaches will be trained. They were also given a chance to talk to some familiar faces about the event. Mayor Ted Salci of Niagara Falls, who cut the red ribbon at the ceremony, wanted to welcome SumoKids to his city and to Canada. 1995 Word Amateur Sumo Wrestling Champion and longtime SumoKids supporter, Emanuel Yarbrough, was also there to sign autographs and do his part to spread the good word about our program. "Anything I can do to help this along, I'm more than willing to help," Yarbrough told the media. |
